This page will give you an insight into Ben Wragg's life and career to date, both as a violinist and teacher.

Described by the legendary Ruggiero Ricci as “technically and musically out of the ordinary…one of our most talented young violinists…one to watch” and praised recently by Musical Opinion Magazine for his “smooth creamy sound…majestically executed”, Ben Wragg has established himself as one of the UK’s most promising up and coming violinists.

Born and raised in London, Ben Wragg is a new breed of violinist, becoming known as more than just your next virtuoso. Rather, he is a violinist comfortable performing in venues spanning from major concert halls to rock festivals and pubs. A violinist who has the experience, imagination and confidence to engage his audience through a relevant programming style mixed with a free and personable stage manner.

Trained at the Purcell School, the Royal Academy of Music London and at The Mozarteum, Salzburg, Ben has appeared as soloist in major concert halls throughout Europe and Asia. These include a debut performance at LSO St Luke’s for his piano trio “Ibuki Trio”, televised performances in a UNICEF Gala Concert in Munich, and concert for HRH Prince Charles at St. James’s Palace, as well as performances and interviews for BBC Radio 2 and for BBC Radio 3’s In Tune programme.

He has been winner of numerous awards and scholarships, including The Making Music Young Concert Artist Award, The Countess of Munster Awards, The Jerwood Foundation scholarship and The Concordia Foundation.

Ben also has a busy recording schedule with recent projects including a Ravel & Shostakovich disc with Ibuki Trio for Claudio Records, a violin and guitar disc with Ahmed Dickinson and also the solo violin soundtrack for feature film Anglesey Road. Future projects include a solo violin disc of works by composers from Bach to Gabriel Prokofiev, with the NonClassical Label.

He is building a reputation as one of the UK’s top young teachers and works with talented youngsters at the Royal Academy of Music, junior dept. many of whom, whilst studying with Ben, have won prizes in important competitions, play in (and recently leading) the National Youth Orchestra and National Childrens Orchestra and have gained places at top specialist music schools and music colleges.

Ben lives in London with his wife Abi (a cellist) and their three children. He also studies and teaches the ancient art of Tai Chi Chuan.
